Andy Rigsbee is running for City Commissioner
As a resident of Springfield for most of my life, I have had the privilege of serving the Springfield Fire Rescue Division from 1999 to 2025. During my career, I’ve had the honor of working in every engine house across the city, with a strong focus on Station 8 on Pleasant Street.
My dedication to public service extends beyond the firehouse. I have been deeply committed to our local union, holding leadership roles in various capacities, including serving as Union President for nine years and Secretary/Treasurer for two years. I have also been an active member of labor management and negotiations committees, and before my retirement I represented our union on the City Health Insurance Study Committee.
On a broader scale, I’ve contributed to the Ohio Association of Professional Firefighters (OAPFF), including my role as Chair of the OAPFF 4th District Legislative Committee. In recognition of my work, I was honored to receive the OAPFF 4th District Leadership Award in May 2024.
Throughout my career, I’ve been a strong advocate for collaboration, working to bring together the police and fire unions for the benefit of our community. I’ve also provided grievance and arbitration representation for our local union. I firmly believe that by standing united, our unions, and our community, can achieve great things.
As I run for City Commissioner, my focus is on continuing to serve our community with the same dedication and collaborative spirit I’ve always brought to my work. Together, we can ensure Springfield remains a great place to live, work, and thrive.
