Andy Rigsbee is a dedicated public servant and lifelong resident of the Springfield area, now running for City Commissioner to bring his years of experience, leadership, and commitment to Springfield’s future.
A Springfield Area Native
Andy’s journey began when he moved to Enon, Ohio, in 1979. He attended Indian Valley Middle School and graduated from Greenon High School, where he developed a strong sense of community and a desire to help others. After high school, Andy’s passion for service led him to work as an emergency technician in the Emergency Department at Community Hospital, where he gained invaluable experience in the fast-paced and high-pressure world of healthcare.
A Career Built on Service
In pursuit of furthering his skills and making a more significant impact on his community, Andy enrolled at Clark State Community College, where he completed Paramedic School. This marked the beginning of a career dedicated to helping others in times of crisis.
Andy joined Springfield Township Fire and EMS, where he worked as both a firefighter and paramedic. His passion for public safety and serving those in need quickly became evident, and he earned the respect of his peers and the community.
In 1999, Andy’s journey brought him to the City of Springfield Fire Division, where he was hired as a full-time firefighter. For nearly 26 years, Andy served the city with honor, rising to become a trusted leader and dedicated professional. During his tenure, he not only responded to countless emergencies but also worked diligently to improve conditions for Springfield’s first responders.
Leadership and Advocacy
Throughout his career, Andy was an advocate for his fellow firefighters and paramedics. He served as the Union President for the Springfield Fire Division for 9 years, where he led the charge in securing better wages, health insurance, and benefits for the dedicated men and women of the fire service. His leadership earned him a prestigious Leadership Award from the Ohio Association of Professional Firefighters (OAPFF), a testament to his unwavering commitment to those who serve our community.
A New Chapter: Running for City Commissioner
After retiring from the Springfield Fire Division, Andy decided to take his experience, leadership, and love for Springfield to the next level by running for City Commissioner. With a deep understanding of the needs of Springfield’s residents and a proven track record of hard work and dedication, Andy is ready to help guide our city toward a bright and prosperous future.
As City Commissioner, Andy will bring a fresh perspective to local government, with a focus on safety, fiscal responsibility, and fostering a thriving, inclusive community for all residents.
